AMY AND FRITZ - A LOVE STORY

This is an amazing story of a young woman with so much compassion for a dog that she would not give up on.

I think every rescue group has that special dog they are always worried about.  The one that is the biggest challenge and the one that they keep just until the most perfect family comes along.  Oh yeah, that little yorkie or bichon always gets adopted first, but the pits, the challenges, the ones that were abused or that need the most work... They are the ones we worry about the most. Where is that perfect family?

When NJAFA  rescued Fritz, he was a "work in progress". He was totally unsocialized and afraid of everyone and everything.  After working with his challenges, we were sure he was ready to be adopted.  When we put him on our website, a young high school girl named Amy (who lives in Cherry Hill)  started following his progress  Every week she got on our website and told her  mother "Fritz is still there mom, can we get him".

Fritz however got adopted to someone else and was taken off our website. Amy and her family searched all the other rescues and shelters for a likeness of "Fritz".  The prince looking for the slipper that fit Cinderalla. However, the woman that adopted Fritz returned him because she  was not home enough and felt it was not fair to Fritz.  This does not happen alot but when  it does it is always a blessing in disguise.  That "blessing" was Amy.

Amy saw Fritz back on our website and was so happy that Fritz was BACK.  No time to waste, she asked her mother to send an application.  The entire family came to meet Fritz. mom, dad, Amy and her two siblings.

When NJAFA learned that this family had already adopted a very scared greyhound, a beagle and had a dog that was extremely sick and that the stay at home mom was CARRYING OUTSIDE to potty and then washing the dog down...NJAFA knew this was a family that would have the patience to work with Fritz.

Amy and her family wanted  Fritz and they were sure they could bring him around.... poor little insecure Fritz.  He barked the entire time the family visited.  But they

persevered.  How could Fritz be so lucky?  Three children with compassion for animals, a stay at home  mom that lives and breathes for her family and pets, a dad that shows his children the proper way to treat animals.

Fritz went to his forever home with Amy and her family.  When Kathy McGuire did a follow up visit with the family she was relieved to find Fritz is a new dog. Fritz lays with Amy while Amy does her homework every night on her bed.   Fritz is confident, totally housebroken and happier than he has ever been.

In fact, we don't have to do any more follow ups which is our protocol.  Fritz is with his forever home.  Fritz and five new guardians,  three other dogs and a cat are part of his new life now.  All thanks to one lovely young woman named "Amy" who is gentle and kind.

Don't you agree?
